How does Novelium use AI?

Overview

Novelium is a manuscript intelligence platform built for fiction writers. The vast majority of what Novelium does, organizing your project, managing files, tracking characters, is not powered by AI at all. These core features run entirely on standard software logic and do not involve artificial intelligence in any way.

However, certain analytical features within Novelium do use AI to read and analyze your text. This is how Novelium is able to catch things like character description contradictions and timeline conflicts.

It is important to understand what this means and, more importantly, what it does not mean for your privacy.

What AI Does in Novelium

When you run an analysis (for example, checking your manuscript for consistency issues), Novelium sends the relevant portions of your text to an AI system for processing. The AI reads your text, identifies potential issues, and returns its findings to Novelium. The interaction is purely analytical. The AI reads, it never writes.

This is consistent with Novelium's core philosophy: "Reads, Never Writes."

Novelium will never generate, ghostwrite, rewrite, or produce creative text on your behalf. AI is used exclusively as an analytical tool — the same way a spell-checker reads your words without writing new ones.

Our Privacy Commitments

We know that for authors, a manuscript is often years of work, and sharing it with any system, even analytically, requires trust. Here is exactly what we promise:

Commitment

What This Means for You

No AI Training — Ever

Your manuscript is never used to train, improve, fine-tune, or teach any AI model. Not now, not in the future. Your creative work exists for analysis only and is never absorbed into any AI system.

No Third-Party Data Use

Your manuscript is never shared with, sold to, or made available to any third party for their use. When AI processes your text for analysis, that text is used solely to return results to you it is not stored, retained, or repurposed by anyone.

No Human Eyes on Your Work

Novelium staff cannot read your manuscript. No employee, contractor, or partner has access to the content you write or upload. This is true even for customer support and debugging purposes we designed our systems so that access to your creative content is technically impossible for our team.

Your Data, Your Control

You can delete your project at any time, and deletion is immediate and permanent. There are no hidden backups, no "deleted items" folders, and no grace periods. When you say delete, it's gone.

Common Author Questions

"Which AI does Novelium use?"

We do not publicly disclose our specific AI provider, and this is intentional. What matters to authors is not which AI reads their text, but what happens to their text afterward, and the answer is: nothing. It is analyzed, results are returned, and your content is not retained or used for any other purpose.

"Could my unpublished novel end up in an AI's training data?"

No. We have contractual and technical safeguards in place to ensure that manuscripts processed through Novelium are never used as training data for any AI model. Your unpublished work remains unpublished.

"Can Novelium support staff see what I've written?"

No. Our systems are designed so that Novelium employees have no ability to access your manuscript content. If you contact support, we can help troubleshoot your account and settings, but we cannot see your creative work. This is by design. it is a technical limitation we built deliberately.

"What if I don't want AI involved at all?"

Many of Novelium's features, including the editor, file management, elements of character tracking, and project organization, work without any AI whatsoever. You are free to use these tools and simply skip the AI-powered analysis features if you prefer.

The Bottom Line

Novelium exists to help authors catch mistakes, not to exploit their creativity. AI is a tool we use carefully and transparently so that you can write with confidence — knowing that your story is yours alone.
